1905-D Denver Mint $20 Gold Saint Die Test piece NGC MS63
The Denver Mint Struck these Test Pieces to test the Dies & Presses before actually striking the 1st $20. Gold Saints at the Denver Mint. Very very Scarce. 1905 $1 Denver Mint Opening So-Called Dollar, HK-876, MS63 Red and Brown NGC. HK-876, R.6. Struck in bronze with a reeded edge. This specimen exhibits pleasing reddish coloration throughout and lacks any serious flaws worthy of disclosure. This popular so-called dollar was the first issue produced at the newly constructed Denver Mint and, according to the newly released Hibler-Kappen reference (2008), less than 75 pieces are believed extant in all grades. Census: 2 in 63 Red and Brown, 3 finer . 1 sold at auction Jan. 2009 for $2,000.+
